Saltwater in my iPhone 4s - help?
I had my iPhone 4s in a Lifeproof case that leaked. Now the flash is stuck on and the camera won't work. The local repair shop wants $150 to clean it out but I can get an out of warranty replacement from Apple for $199. Can I clean it out myself?

Lose the $199.00. That way you can be sure.
Saltwater is very very corrosive to copper circuit traces.
The way I deal with saltwater is to immediately re-dunk
the phone in fresh water and shake it out. And I do that
a couple of times. Then the usual drying techniques.
Was the lifecase defective? I'm wondering if I should stick
with pelican for a waterproof case. Sorry for your loss.
oic...lifecases are not meant to be waterproof. I was tricked by the name. Thought is was supposed to be waterproof.
cns,
@cns I'm pretty sure it was defective. The guy that wanted $150 to fix it said he sees this happen a few times a week. I'm waiting on the otterbox armor before I try my phone in the water again.
Dylan Pine,
@cns oh they are supposed to be waterproof. along with crushproof, drop proof and dustproof.
Dylan Pine,
The otterbox looks good. Now I'll ask pelican why not otterbox and ask otterbox why not pelican....norm ally I lean to pelican
but if otterbox is good down to 100 feet then it should be okay.
