EDIT : I believe I get it...

This morning, as I was using my MBP in the kitchen I notice that issue was not showing.

And I came at desk and issue came back immediately !

What I forgot to mention is that when I've focused my suspicions on wire connection and the small broken part I noticed that the foam protection glued on the connector was marked by the foot print. Somehow, it was there in this purpose...

But but, what is the difference between my kitchen and my desk, either at home or in office ?

The difference is that I use a second screen... yes but I've checked that this screen does not affect my issue... yes but, in order to have both screen at the same high, in either case, I've placed my MBP on a non conventional support : a simple big dictionary ! => I place again my MBP on desk and issue disappear !

Conclusion : My MBP has feet, I have to use it ! Told in other words : do not place your MBP (at least the late 2008, those with 2 bottom parts - including battery cover) on surfaces that are smaller than your MBP himself.

PS: Thanks for having corrected my bad english last time and sorry for this time ;-)

Hi,

I bought a second hand MBP 14 months ago.

I work daily on it 7hr minimum and transport it pretty much.

2 weeks after, I made it fall from bed to floor. That make a miss match when closed btw top and bottom part of 0.7mm on front left corner. But no visible impact on screen.

2 months ago it becomes to appears some artefacts after variable but shorten time of use. It seems (but not sure) that the longer the pause was, the longer it worked normally before issuing.

Now it appears as soon as the MBP starts.

## VISUAL DESCRIPTION

##

Zoning : A vertical strip is affected. That cover a strict quarter of screen, the second one from the left to the right of the screen.

Looking : lines more or less blinking and visible (red/black ?) lines mainly visible upon red and grey.

## DIAGNOSE TESTS

##

Issue similar both on 9400 and 9600 gfx card (tested choosing performance or economic mod).

Displaying on externals : both ok in recopy or extending.

Displayed issue unvisible on capture neither photo nor video files.

=> That makes me focus my suspicions on wire or LCD.

I've tried to unplug and replug LVDS display cable on motherboard side... after having removed the lower case, I blow on dusty card and I makes fall a small broken round black plastic part. It was the 2.5mm diameter located inside the the foot. Exactly the part pushing on the LVDS connector, or more precisely on the protection foam glued on it. I fix the plastic piece and make a new try : issue is still there.

Seethe video of the variation of the intensity and the aspect.

I'd like to solve it only changing the wire... (the cheapest part)...

If you know a sure/cheap way to fix it... please help.

Thank you.

Pierre
