Why is my screen distorted?

The screen on my sony vaio VGN-FZ290 became distorted about 1 1/2 years after we bought it. We bought the computer early 2008. This series of computer is not under the list of affected computers but i truly beleive it is affected. Any help aould be GREATLY apreciated.
Does it only happen if you tilt the screen or is it in all processes?

It looks like red, pink, white and occasionally blue vertical line randomly appearing on the screen. The only time its not vertical line is when I turn on the computer and the vaio sign shows up, its not the vaio sign, it looks like tv static. except its not black and white, its white and red, and pink.
