Screen shows phone charging but battery never charges. Recent drop
I recently dropped my phone, shattering the back glass. Four days later the phone stopped accepting a charge. When I plugged it in it made the sound indicating that it was receiving a charge. The battery icon also showed it was receiving a charge. However, the charge percentage never went up. I just replaced the back panel and took the battery out and then put it back in. Everything inside appeared stable and intact.

Good luck with your replacement battery, Ryan! If that doesn't solve your problem, it is possible that the dock connector got damaged during the drop. This would explain why all of your problems seem to occur when you plug the phone in. Try installing the replacement battery, but if that doesn't help, consider installing a replacement dock connector.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

Wow. I hope that isnt the issue. The tutorial is a long one. I cant believe I have to break down the whole phone to get that out. That'll take all day!

I would very carefully retrace all your steps.
Re-seat the battery connector.
Ya know...it just could be coincidental failure. Maybe the battery just happened to die 4 days after replacing the back glass. Since the battery is pretty cheap and easy I would just replace it.
cns,
So I just left the thing on the charger all day at work. I get home and it shows a full charge. Odd. Seemed to function fine until I unplugged it from the charger. Instantly it shut off. I plugged it back in and it began to reboot. Thanks all for the input. cns - I already ordered the new battery. Ill update this when the battery arrives and is installed. Thanks again
Ryan,
Soooo sorry for the delay in updating this thread. The long and short is that the battery was the issue. Replaced the battery in the iPhone 4 and problem solved. Thanks all for the help!
Ryan,
I'm glad the battery fixed it!
