Mayer is right. You can install SSD in your mentioned MacBook model. It's more than 3-5 seconds difference in most applications performance and operations including boot up time.

Besides, you can either use optibay (put an ssd for the OS+Apps and your other HDD in the SuperDrive slot, if you don't need it). Or you could use the SSD only in place of your HDD, and convert your HDD as an external drive or storage or for backup purpose. You have plenty of choices with your MacBook. Enjoy your new upgrade!
