it will not turn off

i tryed to turn off my ipod and i have tryed to do the trouble shooting techtiques. I have made sure that it was not locked and i have held the play/pause button at the same time as the menu button for ten secounds and it will not turn off. It is saying now playing but it will not do anything what do i do.

what happens when you plug it into your computer? Have you tried to hold the buttons for longer?
