iPod won't power on after screen replacement.

I have just replaced the screen on my sons 4th gen iPod, I went through the same procedures as a previous two that I’ve done before which went with no problems. However this one has.
Nothing that I can see is damaged, the screen is not yet pressed into place, but all plugged in, and will not do anything. Will not power up, or show up in iTunes.
I have checked the voltage of the battery that shows 3.8v.
I have checked the ribbons are correctly seated.
Tried the hard reset.
Swapped and put the old screen back in.
Shorted the battery to the ground.
Any ideas?
I do hope so..
Cheers.
