Cannot save ambios settings.
My computer is not a HP pavillon 700, its an Hp Compaq and I try to save my settings especially boot order and it will not accept the changes. No messages just does not save them the next time i go in its the same as before.
I want to install a windows xp.iso, can it be in iso format or do i need to change it? Burned iso as is!
Clyde
So, which HP Compaq is it? HP Compaq is the vendor, what is the model. You ISO will have to be turned into a bootable disk.
oldturkey03,
Not sure of model, all i can find is model number...MXD336 0G8J. How do I change the iso to a bootable disk?
trekkiedude2000,
Do you have access to something like UltraISO? that is what I use for my ISO files. I think Nero does it too. How you are going to do it depends on your software. the best thing to do is to first identify what beast you are dealing with. Get the freeware to identify your computer from here http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/pc-wizard...
oldturkey03,
The main problem seems to be getting in, i cant get past the login screen and the bootable cd i made i think the computer does not recognize. The cd light lights up for a moment and the bios is set to recognize it first but still does not work, no installation is started from the cd itself. I downloaded the program you suggested but how can i get it to tell me anything if i cant get in? I know i have been a real pain but the computer worked great till i screwed up the login information. Again I aplogize for being such a idiot and thank you very much for all your help. Clyde
trekkiedude2000,
Does the disk that you burned work in another computer. Are you certain you converted the ISO file properly? Not that I doubt you, but it has to be checked to make sure. From what you are saying, the optical drive does not recognize it as a boot device.
oldturkey03,
how can i tell if the disk burned as bootable. got me a flash drive to boot that way just need to know how to tell if its bootable. I put it in my wifes laptop and it wants me to open files so is it bootable or what> I used CDburner XP to burn it.
trekkiedude2000,
not necessarily. Can you boot the laptop with the USB drive? you can try by changing the boot order for the laptop to USB and see if it boots up. Usually, if it is a bootable drive, it will not ask you to open files, but will start up with the OS.
