Brand new galaxy nexus, will not turn on?

History

I just got a brand new Samsung Galaxy Nexus from Fido (Canada) a few hours ago. When i first powered it on, the battery was about 40%. I then used it for a little while, made a few calls and texts, installed twitter and facebook. Once the battery got to around 7%, i plugged the charger in. The little battery in the top corner said it was charging, but in the settings menu, the battery status said the battery was discharging. Then after a few minutes the battery died, all while the charger was plugged in. So I left the phone plugged in for an hour. Nothing would happen. Then i got it to turn on. However, the phone said 0%. The screen started flickering and then the phone died. I cannot get it to start now. Please help

If it's a brand new phone return it to the store you bought it from. This is why manufacturers' warranties exist.
