What is my Logic Board EEE code and/or where is it located?

I've been trying to search for the EEE code but to no luck.

I've got a Macbook Pro 17" Unibody A1297 mid 2009, 2.8 GHz

Serial Number: 7302902Z8YA

I've looked everywhere on the motherboard but can't find it.

My motherboard needs replacement. I've found some other numbers on the board but don't know what to make of them.

One reads 820-2610-A and another near the edge reads 820-2631(or 5)-A.

Please help !

Your EEE code is Z8Y

The EEE code of you Apple part is part of the serial number of the part itself. So locate the part of you macintosh that you are trying to replace, find the sticker with the serial number on it. The EEE code is the first 3 of the last 4 letters of the serial. So in case of a QUAD G5 logic board it is xxxxxxEEEx or xxxxxxxR80x. Now when you see a listing with a mention EEE code in case of the QUAD G5 logic board you will see a list of all the possible once R80, UM0, UR0, URA, VU7, VU8 you only need to match one of them. And if you currently have UM0 and get R80 that is no problem. Getting the correct EEE code part is the absolute way of ordering the correct part.

I might have to make a point clear about the Serial Number that I've mentioned earlier. It was the serial number at the bottom of the laptop. On the back cover. On the outisde. So I'm not sure whether that is the motherboard's serial number. It's probably the serial number of the laptop itself.

I was having trouble finding out the serial number of the motherboard because I can't find it anywhere on one side of the motherboard. If it's on the other side, i'll have to unscrew the whole motherboard.

I was trying to find out through Google - about where the motherboard serial number is written on the board - but couldn't come across any images or posts related to this topic, which I found very strange.

Your machine is a:

Apple MacBook Pro "Core 2 Duo" 2.8 17" Mid-2009 Specs

Identifiers: Mid-2009 17" - MC226LL/A* - MacBookPro5,2 - A1297 - 2329*

Click on the parts blow up here to get part numbers: http://www.welovemacs.com/mc226lla.html Both the logic board serial number and the machines serial number should be just above the RAM slots. The Apple part # for logic board is 661-5203 for the 2.8 GHz board and 661-5204 for the 3.06 GHz board.

Thanks a bunch. You're a top man mayer !

I gave the laptop in to get a hard drive replaced and I have a feeling they jacked my motherboard and changed it for another faulty one because that's when the computer stopped booting. And now that I've tried to find out the EEE code, I find that the sticker/tag isn't there on the logic board.

But at least I know which part to order. Thanks again ! Mighty fine day to you sir !

Mayer is right (as he always is): just to add that in the last EEE codes I'm seeing, it's the first 4 of the last 6 characters in the apple serial number (the one sorrounded by *, example: *C94439700CCFVNYAY* so the EEE is FVNY. Not sure this is always like that, but is what I'm finding lately.

Cheers!

HI @mayer,

I would like to ask for your help. I dropped accidentally some water (like 1 quarter of a glass) on my Macbook Pro 16 inch 2019 Model A2141. I took it to the apple authorized service provider and after 4 days they sent me some images of the Main Logic Board , it look very damaged , like green moho, looks like green salt over the MLB. This make me think that the photos were from another Macbook because I took it immediately to repair, so the damage seems to be there for more time than 4 days.

The technical person said that we need to change the MLB, so I want to make sure that they are telling the truth. I have some photos but did not find any sticker with the EEE number. My serial number ends with ********MD6N, so the EE should be MD6.

Could you help me please??
