I think that's not an OnBoard RAM. The RAM ist changeable.

No, these computers don't have any soldered RAM, it's all user replaceable memory
It supports up to 8GB per each slot on the motherboard, and can max out at 16GB officially, the last generation MacBook Pro 15" maxed out at 8GB officially, this maxes at 16GB officially
This is a common confusion, because Apple only sells up to 8GB RAM, and most people assume the most memory Apple offers is the max, but this is not true, it goes up to 16GB
