Coloured lines and glowing apple?

History

Please help, my daughters iPhone 3GS has suddenly started producing coloured lines across the screen something to interference on an old colour tv. Then the iPhone freezes and required me to hold the off key and home button to switch off. When starting up again the white apple has something like a ghost colour effect making its way through it before turning on. Then suddenly the phone will freeze again or it's back to coloured lines particularly red ones. Any ideas please?

James

Are the colored lines a constant or do they vary?? The freezing is the worrying symptom here.. Could be battery , could be something else, I'm not sure it's all LCD dying. The cheapest solution is the new LCD, good luck

pollytintop,

Yes they vary! It freezes then you have to reset! Works for a few minutes then lines again!

to me this sounds like either one of 2 things, the actual lcd connector is coming loose and just needs putting back in place or the lcd is becoming faulty and may need replacing

Thank you for your comment. I can confirm that the connectors have been checked and are not loose. CI am unsure what the Icd is though? Is this very expensive to replace? Regards James

James Stead,

the lcd is the ink screen, you could try buying a new one and seeing if it works, they sell the lcd screens for this phone on here, have you replaced the screen on these phones before?
