iPhone home button not Working after Replacing

History

So after reading on the web and here I took the plug and replaced the home button on my wife's iPhone. Now it does not work at all. Did more research and found that replacing the dock connector, that could also be the problem should fix it. Well just did that fix and still the home button does not work.

Any suggestions?

All the parts were purchased on this website so I would think that they would be high quality. The phone has not lost any other function other than the home button.

I do have another home button I could try, but I am seeking others insight before I proceed.

Replaced the home button with a new one and all is good. Should have tried that before replacing the dock connector.

Ensure that the ribbon cable is not bent or cracked, and is securely connected.

I have looked at it a couple of times from the backside and there does not appear to be any cracks, or bends. Tomorrow I will tear it all back down and check the function of the button with a DMM. I am thinking it's a bad button.

Did you ever get this resolved? I've replaced the home button assembly and dock connector and still not working. First problem was an occasionally working home button. After button replacement, home button worked a bit and now entirely unresponsive. (using soft home button in accessibility). Replaced dock connector, still same problem. Wondering if you found a solution.

I had ifixit send me another home button, installed it and it seemed to fix the problem.
