Burnt out inverter cable

History

Long story short, my grandfather smelled a burning coming from his Imac so he shut it off immediately. He then gave it to me to look at. I opened it up and saw that one of the inverter cable connectors burned through and disconnected. The computer seems to work fine and i dont smell any burning anymore. So my question is that is the machine OK to use? I told him i would go for it because all of the other inverter cables are fine and the screen is bright and clear but he thinks it will burn his house down. So is it OK?

No, something caused that cable to overheat... it's still there. Put in a new cable without fixing it=house fire.
