How do I replace the display card in my Power Mac G4?

The monitor quit showing my 2000 Power Mac G4. I tested it with other working monitors & none of them worked with my G4, but did work on other computers. The G4 does power up. I was told it was more than likely the display card in the computer.

You can open it, and remove it using this guide (It's For a newer powermac G4, but the procedure is the same) Power Mac G4 MDD Graphics Card Replacement

You can replace it with a Mac compatible AGP graphics card, or flash certain PC cards, though it deppends on what you do with the machine. If you use an apple ADC display, you cannot use a flashed card. Here are some links to compatible replacement cards(in order from least to most powerful):

If you want to go back with original equipment just do a search on eBay apple & component then video & AGP. Here's one for $10.80 with free shipping, Apple Mac G4 ATI Rage 128 Pro VGA DVI AGP Video Card HS. To put it in just remove the one screw holding it in, pull the card and replace. The AGP cards have a small tab on the bottom back end of the card next to th motherboard that you have to push about 1/2 inch to side side to disengage it.

A warning on the APPLE ATI Radeon 9000 Pro.

FYI - I have a factory installed APPLE ATI Radeon 9000 Pro in my MDD Mac, and when running OSX 10.4.11, my machine crashes when waking from sleep. It may be Video sleep, or machine sleep, or both. So I turn off hardware sleep, and all is well.
