iPhone 4 clicks after going swimming in salt water

I left my iphone 4 in my pocket and went for a swim with it. I read and followed the guide and used alcohol and a tooth brush to clean it out. I also replaced the battery. It now seems to be stuck in a recovery loop and I can't get it out. When plugged in apple sign comes on every 10s or so. Tried iReb and everything else to no avail. It also makes a clicking noise whenever the apple sign comes up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
