Small gold part left - battery replace

History

I followed the guide for replacing the battery on the 4s. However, after I had the battery successfully in my hand I noticed a small gold part loose in the bottom of the battery tray. I have looked in all the guides I can find but I do not see it mentioned and I do not see it in photos. I was not rough when taking out the battery and I am pretty sure I did not break anything but I can not see where the piece goes.

Any ideas? The piece is gold on one side, black on the other. There is a hole through it, so I assume that one of the battery contact screws goes through there. There is also a small sprung contact arm coming off the back.

Yes that seems to fit. I was amazed that I saw no mention or warning in the guides that such a piece existed. It gave me quite a shock. I thought I had ripped something out by mistake. All is well, except that my wife's iPhone is still a water damaged wreck. Waiting for a new battery...

Does it look like this? It is most likely the piece held down by the screw highlighted in orange in step 4 of the 4S Display Assembly guide.

Shelley is right. I think the piece you're referring to is the pressure contact located on top of the battery connector.

Walter Galan,

Had the same problem and @Shelley's advice worked for me too. Was going nuts for a second there.
