iPhone shuts down randomly when asked "too much"

History

Hey all !

I've been using my iphone 3GS for about two years now, and it started shutting down randomly a few months ago. It keeps getting worse and worse.

It usually shuts down when I'm trying to access the web (via app or Safari), but it also crashes when I'm done with a call, or when I listen to music. The thing is I can't boot it back on without connecting it to power.

I don't know if it could be the battery, because sometimes it holds the whole day with no particular issue...

What do you guys think ? :)

Thank you !

Paul Helbert, it is at least two years old, and the battery may be coming to the end of its lifecycle. The errors you are describing would fit this. idevices, especially the iPhone. do demonstrate the weirdest, most inconsistent errors. I would most certainly start with it. Check this guide and as you will see, it is not a terribly difficult job, and not to expensive, but it will provide you with a known good starting point for any further trouble shooting. Hope this helps, good luck.
