iPod won't do ANYTHING after digitizer replacement!?
So I was working on my 3rd iPod 4G digitizer replacement tonight and I got it apart just fine, nothing broken or anything, and as I;m trying to connect the LCD ribbon I thought i had it snapped into place so I turn on the iPod and nothing came on the screen. So i gave it a few more tried before I finally got the LCD cable snapped in, and once I did the LCD just kept flashing black/grey every few seconds. I tried holding the home button and power button and nothing happened it just kept flashing. I thought maybe it was the new LCD so I disconnected it and connected the original, because I knew that one worked. That one did the same thing when I put it on. I decided to try and connect it to the computer just to see what happened, and when I plugged it in I got nothing... iTunes doesnt see an iPod, my computer doesnt see an iPod, no beeps.... nothing... My question is what the %*^$ could be causing this iPod to act this way? And is there anything I can do to try and salvage it? I really hope it isn't garbage now... I'm so disappointed, I've been fiddling with it for 4 hours now trying to get it to work. Taking it apart and checking all my connections, re-assembling, and I keep ending up with the same result.
Fixed the issue. I took it apart and checked all the connections again and all the sudden it started being recognized with itunes and the computer but all I had was a white screen. Hard reset did not work either. Turned out the digitizer was defective, sent it back and they replaced it with another one and it worked perfectly.
I am having same issue. I have replaced 50-60 something iPod 4th gen screens. never have i had one working with cracked screen then replaced it with a new one. put everything together powered on fine, but the digitizer wasn't working. I disassembled again and checked the digitizer it wasn't connected properly, put it back together checking all cables and nothing happens. No power, not recognized, nothing on the screen!!
I took it apart again changed screens with a new one, checked cables no issues at all. put back together, no power not recognized, nothing!!! Im *@@%## its not my iPod so I need some help friends. thanks
hi man the same thing happened to me the battery has to be grounded see the pic i just upload. this had my head fryed all night just look down at the 3 battery terminals its the far one on the right and get a small screw driver and touch the solder then touch the home button metal plate. hold it there for 5 seconds then plug charger in you should get life. try this a few times and make sure screw driver is clean
