flashes blue then red both screens flash then nothing .

I purchased a DSi from China.(USA model?) Worked ok
for a while then suddenly flashed off while using Brain Traning. No lights- with or without charger. When I press start I get a quick blue light then a red light followed by a quick flash of both screens then nothing.
Repeats each time I press start. Have now sent off for new battery and charger;am I on the right track?

think it's the d-pad, it's the one the battery sits on so power comes from battery to all other parts of the dsi. if the dpad dies you will get a trickle charge which will flash screens on but not sustain them hence what you've described. I've put this as a comment because it's been a while since I worked on a dsi and there are some other very experienced people on here.
