After replacing LCD screen and topcover why does backlight remain out?

Cat knocked over a glass of water on my white Macbook unibody (2010), and after I dried it out with all the usual tricks, the screen remains dim, as in, impossible to see anything on it unless there's a flashlight behind it while the back cover's off. I replaced the LCD panel completely as suggested (nothing changed) and just finished a complete overhaul of the keyboard, replacing the topcover, and still, no backlight. Is there anything else I can fix/look for damage on? I know very little, so any pointers as to where a backlight connection could damaged would be so helpful. Everything else works totally normal, keys, functions, it's just pitch black unless connected to an external monitor. Help?!

Please give us the last three figures of your serial number. I take it the external monitor works OK?

mayer,

From the "About This Mac" section, the serial number ends in 8PW. The external monitor looks totally normal!

Katy,

Do you or anyone else in your life have a firm grasp on how to use a multimeter for voltage and continuity readings?

ABCellars,

Unfortunately no... where abouts would that reading take place within the computer? Diagnostically, I'm at a loss so far.

Katy,
