Why does the Headphone jack only play on one side?

I just replaced the headphone jack of my iPod Touch 4th gen because it was playing one side then the other if I turned the wire and so on and so on ... plus it was staticky. I still have the same problem now. Yes I've tried different headphones, same problem. I've tried TS,TRS and TRRS headphones with no luck. Any ideas?

Have you looked at the socket the headphone jack plugs in to? Anything that may look dirty or corroded in the area on the logic board? Is the sound coming at a constant volume or has that seemed to fade over time?
