ASAP! 2009 Display in 2008 MacBook?

I am looking for a laptop on ebay and found an ok one with no display (just the palmrest+logic board). I have found an awesome deal on an LCD + Display housing, but it is for a mid 2009 macbook pro. Will the 2 be compatible? I know they updated the display on the 2009 mbp as well as moving the sleep magnent, but that is a minor issue. Please respond ASAP! The auction ends soon and I need to know what to bid.

A1286, 15" late 2008 MBP

Display is from a mid 2009 MBP pro of the same size. (later model but same A1286 identifier)

As long as they are the same model numbers, you should have no problems.

I am asking as many of the model have the same number (I think the new 2011 model is still A1286). I am asking because the new display (2009) has "605 better color gamut" (whatever that is) according to apple. But did they change ldvs cables between then?

For future internet goers, I believe the Mid 2009 display is compatible, but the display assemblies have magnets on different sides of the screen (however there is a slot on the 2009 one for the 2008 magnet position).

Do not buy any of this, you will regret it when the bottom cover of the display assembly splits - all the 15" do that. They're glued together, it's not one piece, and the heat exhausts onto the exact spot which is glued together. Most on eBay are glued back together with shoddy workmanshop and will fall apart one day outside your eBay buyer protection.
