How do I fix my 2g disabled iPod?

Please help!!! My brother typed in the password wrong too many times, and now my iPod says: iPod is disabled connect to iTunes. I plugged it into my PC and all it says is: iTunes cannot connect to iPod because the iPod is locked. Or something like that. I tryed following other advice, which was to hold the home and power button, but all that did was give me the power off option. I really need help!! Please tell me how to fix this. THANKS!!!!!!!!!

There should be a time on it that says something like "iPod disabled xx minutes", basically you have to wait... you could try putting it in DFU mode otherwise and iTunes will try to restore it.
