iPhone sound will not work

Hello everyone

I just got the iPhone 4 S yesterday. I have found that the sound does not work at all. The only sound I can get out of it is when I use the headphones. It is a brand-new iPhone. Thank you for any suggestions on how to fix this.

Note that the microphone works, I actually dictated this question using the iPhone.
