Marilyn to perform a reset simply hold the power button down for 20 seconds then restart the Kindle. This will perform a hardware reset and you should be up and running. Do not be surprised to have to do this on occasion as the Kindle fire is sorta like Microsoft Windows where it gets confused at times requiring a reset/reloading.

ok i took my kindle apart to fix charging port...now my screen doesnt respond to the touch? Did i do something wrong?
