Power button does not work any more, keyboard and trackpad OK
Dear all,
I have MacBook White mid 2007, Core 2 Duo and till last week it worked with no problem although battery died almost 2 years ago.
I just have upgraded it to Snow Leopard for my friend and next day we went skiing. When we got there MacBook wouldn't power up. Yesterday I took it apart and managed to power it up with screwdriver (touching pins) on upper case connector on logic board. Then I attached upper case when MacBook was booting. All keys and trackpad worked with no problem.
I assume only Power button has died. Could there be way to get and replace only Power button?
Thank you for your help and time,
pe3c

If it's only a power button issue: sadly, you can't. You may try cleaning around with some isopropylic alchol, maybe there's some grime around, but the upper case is a solid lump of plastic and circuitry that prevents you from having any work done.
Thus, I'd try to see what happens with a new upper case cable. Failing that, I'd try with a replacement upper case...
Hi there, during Easter I found time and took my MacBook a part and tried to clean it as proposed, but there was no improvement. Power button still doesn't works. I noticed funny thing. If Caps lock and/or Num lock is enabled (LED on key) and Power button is pressed both LEDs blink. Could this mean something? Thanks for the help.
