microphone not working after change of screen
Okay my iphone 4 had a smashed screen so i bought another and changed it, everything was good until someone rang me and they said they could not hear me?? but i could hear them, but they could hear me when on loud speaker?
is there anything i could try to resolve the problem or is it a bin job?

Just do a quick check:
Does the voice recorder still work, does it record your voice.
If the voice recorder also does not record any voice you probably have damaged the microphone, which you can easily replace by replacing the dock connector (which includes a new microphone).
If the voice recorder does work however you have a major (and known iPhone 4) problem with the noise canceling chip on your logic board, which is unfortunately very hard, if not impossible, to repair.

Replace the dock connector mic assembly. Trust me I do this for a living.
Update
You do have to remove the mic/speaker assembly to change the glass. There are 2 screws under it that hold the front glass on. The top noise cancelling mic works on apps voice memos and speakerphone. The bottom mic is attached to the dock connector and works when the phone is up to your ear.
