iPhone 4 won't turn on after screen replacement

History

Hello, I bought a screen replacement kit today and followed the instructions on ifixit, when i was finished reassembling, the phone wouldn't turn on. I reopened it to make sure all the connectors were in the right place.

(before i replaced the screen the power was like 15%)

Then I startet googling and found a lot of tips like I should try to hold the home & lock buttons for a few seconds or connect it to my computer. didn't work.

then i tried to connect it to the power socket at first i got no response but after 20 seconds or so the iPhone made the usual tone when connected to the power supply.

still no response on the screen / vibration etc.

any ideas? thanks in advance.

Have you let the phone charge for 12 hours or so before trying to turn it on, yet?

Jake Devincenzi,

Same exact thing just happened to me. help please!

Lena Di,

what happens if you put the old screen back in? (hoping you kept it) if it turns on despite cracks etc then maybe you have a dud new screen..

pollytintop,

update: alright, so i let it charge for about 10 hours and then it responded to pressing the home button (vibrated). gonna try to change the screen. maybe the old one works.

Elias,

i have encountered a small issue while trying to put the parts together. there is one metal and two rubber parts that kind of dropped out of the body. i took 2 pictures showing them. anyone there that can identify them? i have drawn two arrows to roughly show where the parts were. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5953546/iphone1.... http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5953546/iphone2.... thanks for your answers.

Elias,

When you replace the screen, there's this wide connector strip data to the screen goes through. If you don't slide it into the slot under the screen properly, it will prevent the screen from displaying.

Think of it like unplugging your monitor from the back of your computer. Unless that connector is snug, the screen won't turn on.

thanks will make sure it's properly connected when reassembling.

Did you ever figure this out? I had the small gold piece come out too, did you find where it goes? Also, when my phone is plugged in, it vibrates when switching the silent switch on the side, but stops as soon as it is unplugged. Please help if this got resolved!!
