Connection to uppercase not covered in guides.
Step 10 of the guides to remove upper case doesn't cover how to disconnect a small, short wire connecting the upper and lower cases on the left hand side. This wire 'appears' to be coming from the headphone jack (difficult to tell) and going to some unknown black element covering the speaker grill. I stopped and reassemble my laptop till I figure out what the wire is and how to disconnect it properly.
Has anyone seen this connection in their repair processes, knows what it and how to disconnect/reco

I believe that you are describing the airport antenna connecting wire. It may not be tucked away where it properly belongs along the side of the logic board, and should not be not connected to the top case. There are small "snaps" (see detail step 11) on the ends of the wire that connect it to the card. They pop UP easily.
