Gradually lost ability to write to hard disk, now no boot!?
I ordered the ifixit hard drive cable, replaced it with no problems but it did not affect the computer's failure to boot.
Also, my screen has been blinking and kind of scattering lately, and when the disk finally stopped being read at all (when the intermittant loss of the abiltiy to write to the disk, turned into a complete failure to boot) the screen seemed to stay scrambled and jumpy all the time now.
What should I do? Is another cable? It seems so cable-y.
Thanks.

You say nothing about how the original cable was damaged, the display issue may be related if the machine was dropped. While you were inside you possibly loosened or damaged the data display cable, which would cause flicker - black screen. GO SLOW on dis/reassembly maybe it's just a poor reassemble. If you can boot from the optical drive or an external drive it would eliminate logic board/display issues. If you can't they're still in the race.
