Disks not spinning up (Tried new laser mechanism)
Hi! Before I go any further, just wanna say how awesome this site is! Seriously! I've used it for fixing a friends iPhone and its great what your all doing on here. Now on to my problem.
My cousin had my ps3 (borrowed) for a couple of weeks. Then I decided to bring it back home. When I got it home and tried to insert a disk, the drive wouldn't spin up and I just got the disk spinning at the top part of my screen. Reading a guide on here I decided to replace my loading tray (Laser motor etc). The install went quite smoothly, All seemed fine. Then when I turned it on, nothing new happening.
So after fiddling around with it (Taking apart and putting back together the drive), I decided to take it to my Fiancé's house. When I got there, I put it back together again and it worked. Get in, it played DVDs games etc no problem, However, when I brought it back home, it decided to go back to the old way of not doing anything.
So my question is this, Does anyone have any ideas? I did nothing between it working and not working except drive it home, is there anything that may be getting 'jiggled around' inside causing this to happen? It was only laid on the passenger side floor of my car so not really exposed to any aggressive movement.
Thanks in advance and keep up the good work!
J
EDIT: Forgot to mention its the older phat ps3 with the card reader and KEM-400AAA assembly.

In order to install the necessary file-download to your PS3, to re-marry the bd to the mb, you first need to "downgrade" to an older PS3 version. My current version is 4.11. This hack to re-marry the two only works on 3.5 or 3.55. So this fix seems to now be a 2 step process.
More details to come. If others already have this information and can share, please do so. Thank you!
PS3 console blinks blue and green and won't stop trying to load a disk, why? I have the same/ similar issue. Looking for answers myself. A PS3 games started skipping. Upon attempted power-down, the console started repeatedly blinking blue and green, and then shut-down. Now the console will not stop trying to load a disk (game or movie). Icon never appears in the game or movie menu, but the spinning disc icon in the upper-right corner of the screen doesn't stop. So, we ask ourselves, what does is mean when the PS3 console blinks blue and green and then won't stop trying to load a disk? Though I don't yet have the answer to the 'why', or 'how',... I believe I understand the 'what.' The 'what' of the issue, is the PS3 motherboard (mb) needs to pair/marry to the blu-ray drive (bd). I too, replaced my bd and it powered up and, mechanically speaking, it worked, but the mb wouldn't recognize it. So, I had to take it in. (bummer; that 90 day warrantee is up) Just this morning, the symptoms listed above happened and think I'm in the same cruddy situation. While investigating if there is a way to re-marry my mb to the bd, I found this website. http://www.digitalworldz.co.uk/259864-re... I can't take credit for this fix, as I'm not sure how to perform the operations listed. So though it seems legit, I cannot verify or explain the procedure. Maybe if we get the information out, we can work on this Ridiculous issue as a group and come up with a user-friendly solution!
