Shuts off when unplugged instantly

my iphone 4 will turn on when plugged in but shuts off the second i unplug it. Ive changed the battery and it does the same thing what else could it be?
Check to see if you have connection from the dock connector to the battery. Measure at the contacts with a multimeter.
