Opened case to see why Airport & Blue Tooth were inop...
''Opened case to see why DVD drive,Airport & Blue Tooth were inop... and after finding nothing disconnected I closed the case but IMAC won't boot up other than showing a translucent back-light but no APPLE LOGO!
This machine has a long history of issues and spent a month at L2 Computers in NYC for a repair to the screen interface cable on the motherboard...
The DVD drive just kicks the disks back out whenever you insert them...removed it and inspected for debree but nothing was discovered!
Anyone got any ideas where I need to start on these issues?''italic text''

Go under the Apple in the upper left hand corner to "about this Mac" > more info > network > airport, and see if the card is being seen. Same thing on the bluetooth card and let us know your results. Here's how to replace the airport card: Installing iMac Intel 21.5" EMC 2308 AirPort Card
Here's how to replace the bluetooth board: Installing iMac Intel 21.5" EMC 2308 Bluetooth Board
UPDATE
Airport card - Apple part # 661-4906
Bluetooth board - Apple part # 922-8823
Optical drive - Apple part # 661-5138
Are you dealing with an actual Apple store or an ASP Authorized Service Provider? I suspect a defective replacement logic board, your replacing the hard drive should have nothing to do with what they did. My question is you should have gotten racing fans if you replaced the hard drive with anything other than an actual Apple hard drive.
so the new issue is the no screen? it was all working fine after you replaced hdd? how long between hdd replacement and bluetooth/airpo
Blue Tooth and Airport issues existed when unit was returned from L2 Computers after they repaired the LCD interconnector at the motherboard.... After I replaced the OEM HD with a 3TB HDD there was no boot up just backlight only! In response to the other question no racing fans were observed and yes that Apple repair agency was a certified repair station per se! :>/
which iMac have you got? either give the year EMC or the last 3 letters of serial, then the guru's will be able to give you the best/detailed advice.

leehhiltoniii,
according to everymac this is your machine..if I've got it wrong let us know..
pollytintop,
The system does not see either the airport or blue tooth card! In fact, it doesn't even see the DVD drive! :>/
leehhiltoniii,
Where do you obtain airport and bluetooth cards? My local arrogant IMAC repair center will not sell me parts for DIY issues! Also, they will not honor any further extended warranty after I replaced the OEM HDD with a 3TB HDD! I'm wondering if this is a APPLE issue or a personality issue? :>/
leehhiltoniii,

mayer,
System would not boot up after HDD replacement...r einstalled OEM HDD same issue remains...backl ight but no APPLE LOGO or bootup...
Blue tooth and Airport card issues were reported by L2 Computers when they shipped this unit back after LED ribbon connector connector at motherboard repair...
:>/
leehhiltoniii,
I finally got the screen up and running after I found the four ribbon connector damaged...cut off the damaged end and scraped the insulation to allow contacts to engage but the screen is very poor quality so I need a replacement ribbon from the graphics card to LCD! Where should I find this ribbon? :/
