Is my battery shorting?
This question is archived. No new answers are allowed, and only the question's owner may edit it.
I bought one of these as a learning experience to fix, Replaced the hard drive, click wheel, screen and back casing. Everything in here is new except the motherboard. I put in a new battery and charged it fully. But the battery doesn't last long. I don't know if this is because I still didn't fix the hold switch housing yet (It doesn't work...yet) and it could just turn on when pressed. Or in a very random occurrence, could my battery be shorting somehow? thanks for your help.
Well what's your definition of long? Are you playing .wav? if your using a large file format the hdd will consistantly have to be spinning, greatly reducing battery life. Try restoring it.
Ryan,
if you think that these were released 6 years ago then maybe you have a battery that was produced between now and then..maybe you have an old battery?? I'd buy from another source and see what happens.
pollytintop,
Hey guys thanks for the advice, here is some more info I forgot to add. I usually listen to the downloaded bass drive Drum and bass sessions, some of the files have been converted to iPod format. the recorded sessions usually last around 2-2.5 hours. The files are large ranging from 100mb and varies. With the backlight set very low, I get around 2.7-4 hours of battery life, thats without playing videos and adjusting the volume requiring the backlight to come on. The battery I purchased was from an american Ebay company about 4 months ago now.
