Try shutting down your computer, then hold down the mouse button as you restart it. This should tell the computer to eject the disk no matter what.

the computer won't actually shut down properly? it attempts a shut down but never actually completes it.

Taipari,

I am trying to help an owner of a MacBook Pro A1150. The computer only begins to boot with the apple icon displaying and the circular process icon running endlessly. I asked him if he had the OS disc which I assumed would be bootable and instead we had put in a printer driver cd. Your above answer worked well at ejecting the cd.
