wheel compatibility iPod 2nd gen and 3rd gen

Hi , just wanna know if ipod nano 2nd gen wheel is compatible with a nano 3rd gen ?
I have a broken iPod nano 3rd gen, only the wheel is not responding everything else works, charging and hold button but I'm stuck to nothing ,cause wheel won't work!
