I have the MacBook Core 2 Duo and it is not charging nor functioning at all without the charger connected. It has a new battery and I just recently replaced the battery connecter. I also downloaded and ran coconut battery. It reads; 0 current charge, 4200 max charge, 4200 current capacity, 4000 design capacity. Temp 29.2, and charging... Any ideas?
You should try to charge your new battery in another macbook to be sure the new battery is fully functional. Also check the AC adapter. Any liquid spilled on your macbook ?
lemerise,
You left out a few things from Coconut - loadcycles & temp. Are they not given a value? Also try downloading iStat - it's free - http://islayer.com/apps/istatpro/ - tell us what it has to say about your battery and charging. Are you using a 65 watt or 85 watt charger? As limerise said check your battery with another system if you can, new batteries can be bad too.
ABCellars,
The battery is brand new. It worked fine without being plugged in basically until it died from not charging I'm assuming.
Stephen Perry,
Thank you for adding that bit of information. But, are you going to give us the information I asked for in my previous comment?
ABCellars,
