Memory issues/MacBook Pro question as well

History

Hi, I have 2 macs here I am having trouble with...the first is a 2.4ghz macbook that will ONLY start up with a 512mb stick in the left slot. Any stick in the right slot will make it 3 beep, and any stick higher than 512mb in the left slot will make the screen stay black with no chime OR 3 beeps...any ideas on this?

Next...I have my personal macbook pro that the nvidia chip went out, scrambled screen and everything. Did the hairdryer trick and it fixed the screen scrambling, but upon restarting the computer will load the apple, then the gear spins for a few seconds then the gear stops spinning, and nothing happens. any ideas why this is? Thanks very much guys yall are the best

On the one with the memory problem make sure the sticks larger than 512mb are compatible with your model. Try installing the 1Gb stick in the left slot. Reset the SMC, then try booting it. Your right ram slot on this is dead. On the PRO try resetting the SMC on it, then try booting it. Also see if it boots properly to the OS X install disk. Instructions for resetting the SMC are found at http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964 .

Call Apple up and tell them you have the Nvidia issue and get them to replace the logic board for free.

I tried, they wont because the computer is 4 years and 6 months old. They only do them for 4 year olds or less.
