Can I use LCD screen of a 2006 MB on 2008 model?
Hi !
I recenlty bought a 2008 MB (C2D 2.1Ghz) with a 820-2279-A Logic board but the screen is full of tiny spots on it as if some windex had dried on it, impossible to remove.
So i tried installing a nicer screen from a 2006 Macbook (C2D 2.0Ghz) with logic board 820-1889-A.
I soon noticed that it wouldn't be possible as the inverter plug of the 2006 LCD is not compatible with the 2008 logic board.
But after reading another topic on the site, it got me wondering : Can i just take the inverter cable from my 2008 LCD and plug it in the inverter board of my 2006 LCD and get it working on the logic board ?
Hope i am clear enough and that someone can answer me ! Thanks :)

The inverter boards in every MacBook display are cross compatible, from what I understand. Apple never changed them until the Unibody MacBook came out. But the connectors that go to the logic boards are probably different. I've successfully removed an inverter board from a 2007 MacBook screen, and it's really not a very difficult procedure. I encourage you to try it! :) This is the guide you'll need. I was going to do a very similar thing, swapping the inverters, but I never needed to after all. Post back here to let us know how it goes!
Good luck!

You can actually see that the inverters are cross compatible according to iFixit. Apple attaches a different cable to them on the one end that plugs into the logic board. If you're confident about going into your displays, then by all means do it! :) like I said before, it's not the most difficult procedure. MacBook Inverter Board
Thanks a lot Tommy, that's exactly what i wanted to know, i'll try to swap the screens and keep the 2008 Inverter board on the 2006 screen assembly and accept the answer as soon as it's installed.
