Computer won't boot completely

History

Keyboard went out about 6 months ago. Just got the money to buy a new one and replaced the optical drive while I was at it. Charged the battery and pushed the power. The screen flashed, the CD made a noise and the light at front came on and flashed for a sec. That's it, no fan, no other boot up noises and no boot up. Any ideas what could be wrong? The prior keyboard worked but had a key that went out.

Thanks, Apparently it was something loose inside. I took it apart, took out the logic board, cleaned everything with q-tips and alchohol, put it all back together and "voila" it came right back on! Thanks again!

It could be that something inside isn't quite plugged in the whole way- try opening it and making sure that everything is seated properly.

I will check tonight.

So you bought a replacement top case for the MacBook, not only a keyboard ? Is it new or used ?

Bought the santa rosa/penryn keyboard from here new. Its a newer top case but says it is compatible.

sur4die2002,

Could this have anything to do with it being idle and unplugged for so long? 6-months.

sur4die2002,

Try to power the MacBook with the old top case and if it boots normally then the new top case is faulty. Just a troubleshooting test...
