Thank you, I will work my way through it.

I managed to strip down and change the CMOS battery thanks to the help given above. The service manual whilst very comprehensive still didn't show the eact location of the CMOS battery and so to help others I have taken a photograph of it here: http://stevejjones.co.cc/images/cmos.jpg
