Vertical Streaking - Backlight Issue?

Would replacing the CCFL lamps, or, doing something related to the backlight assembly, address this issue?

I realize the solution of "replacing the LCD screen" is common.

I'm at the point, however, where so many of the replacement "LCD screens" for this model are bad (M201EW02 variants) - with limited ordering options and no guarantee of quality for used items.

When looking over what's "inside":

Removing CCFL from iMac 20in LCD CCFL assembly

(A perspex sheet with white plastic coating, 2 opaque matt plastic sheets, and 1 Pearlescent matt plastic sheet..)

- I'm tempted to see if dissembling the backlight assembly to replace any components, including the replacing the CCFL dual backlight lamp assemblies would address this issue.

So, basically, what specifically inside an LCD screen (including the backlight assembly, and LCD) is at fault?
