The power button is not sold separate from the upper case. One could possibly be salvaged from a watre damaged upper case (I just looked at one and it would need to be torn apart to get to it. However, the power button is rarely the cause for a machine not starting. It's much more likely that the ribbon cable is not connected correctly to the logic board. Have you opened the machine or spilled any liquid in it. Please give a more exacting list of your symptoms and the history of the machine.

Thanks for your reply. I didn't thank you earlier because i can't power up my computer. I'm using a different one today (finally). A friend of mine powered up the machine without the power switch and it works perfectly. The problem is that he went away and I can't get in touch with him. I'm waiting for a new uppercase/keybo ard but I don't life in the U.S. and it will take a week or two before I finally get it.
I saw a picture of the two points to connect on the A1278 model (http://www.ifixit.com/Device/MacBook_Pro...) but I couldn't find a picture on my model a1181.
Could someone direct me?
Thanks a lot.
