Mac Pro RAM Installations in Pairs

Apple's Support site shows the procedure for installing Match RAM sets, but it gets a bit confusing when they talk about the upper and lower cards and the slots to use for the pairs. I don't want to install them improperly. Right now there are four slots with 512 MB which I want to install recently purchased four 2 GB "sticks" of match Crucial RAM. Unless these are numbered (1-4) I would presume they can just be put in place of the 512 MB "sticks." Yes?

Thanks for the link. I'll keep that with me as I remove/add the new RAM.
