LCD not working, LogicBoard Cable broken

History

I bought a broken iPod Touch 4th Gen.

Its Display is not working.

After opening the device I recognized that the upper front logic board cable with labeling as seen here:

Installing iPod Touch 4th Generation Front Panel Replacement

is broken:

1. What function does this cable have?

2. Any suggestions how to fix this problem WITHOUT buying a whole new logic board.

the broken part is the WiFi Cable I'd be surprised if that is the cause of it not working. Someone has obviously opened it up before. Keep looking. THIS TEARDOWN may assist you in disassembly as may THESE GUIDES

What happens if you plug the iPod into a PC and start iTunes? Is it recognised?
