Is the iPod Touch's (1st Gen) Display compatible to iPhone 2G?

Hey, I just bought an iPhone 2G from eBay and its display has pixel failures on it. Since I have my old, disassembled iPod Touch 1st Gen here, I wondered if the iPod's display was compatible to my iPhone? I would really like to replace the display..

I thought it would be likely to be identically constructed since they are both 1st Gen and they were released at the same time..

It would really be great if someone could help me finding an answer!
