LCD Backlight Not Working, Brightness Buttons Don't Affect

Does anyone have the schematics for this model? I'd like see if this might be a board level issue and if so how I might fix it.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Fatima N I am sure the schematics are out there but you need to identify your specific board for this. There are a few different variation even within the same model. Let us know what numbers are on your board. I would expect something like LCFC NM-D031 but we should not guess.

To see it it's a board-level issue, try connecting an external monitor to your laptop. Use a function key to toggle between the external monitor and your laptop's display. If the external monitor works, then it's not a board-level issue; it may be the laptop's LCD assembly. Fix it by first replacing the laptop's display inverter, then replacing the LCD panel. It's usually best practice to try the cheaper solutions first.

If neither display works, then it's probably a board-level issue. I agree with oldturkey03; it's best to confirm the motherboard type. However, these links may also be useful:
