does the motherboard need its screws?
Hi, i have the seemingly popular problem of 3gs shutting down randomly. I have changed the battery 3 times but the first time it was done overseas and when the problem recurred i ordered a new battery and replaced it myself. But when i opened the phone i noticed the guy who did it last only replaced the 2 screws near the No7 connector. While the board doesnt seem to move around i was wondering if not having all the screws in would make a difference to the functioning of the phone,....given i still have shutdown problems and am looking at all possibilities.
Its on 4.2.1 with ipad BB, JB'en on Greenpoison and UL'ed on Ultrasnow.
What im seeing now is the phone works fine from 100-50 % then it starts to shutdown, especially when making calls or sending texts. Now i have noticed if i remove the sim after 50 % and use apps and use the phone or message services , it does not shutdown. So there seems to be some correlation tween the sim and the battery,...any ideas ?

In my experience iPhones work fine with just those 2 screws. Have you tried cleaning the sim/slot? Checked the gold prongs near dock/antenna?

Honestly it is best to replace all screws to their holes when you reassemble your phone. They are there for a reason, and if I am not mistaken the screws near the #7 connector are vital because they hold in place the dock assembly and hold the logic board down, so that the battery contacts touch it. Just my opinion.
If i had of done it, everything would go back as it came out, but the guy who did it in Thailand lazily left them out. He replaced the 2 near the 7 connector and thats all so i have no screw set and dont know where to get one . I have pretty much eliminated that as a cause, still possible but not high on the priority list. Thanks for your reply.
