Is there no front display glass available for mid 2010 15" MBP?

History

The only available 15" glass panel is compatible with: "All Unibody 15" MacBook Pros (except Mid 2010 machines)". Where do I get a panel for mid 2010 machines?

Secondly, I have a high res display, does it make a difference?

Hi Jesper! I see this post is from Dec8. Did you already solve the problem? What did you do? My computer is a mid 2010 machine and I need a new glass panel as well... I tried on www.applemacparts.co.uk. There, following the steps to identify my kind of computer and then the product I'm looking for, I have this information: 2.4GHz [A1286 Late 2008] » MAC-BP15GLS It should say "Mid 2010"... I do I know it is the right product for my computer? Can you help me?

Ricardo,

I did not solve the problem. My screen is still cracked, and I do not want to spend a lot of time fixing it with a wrong part. I cannot say how you ID'ed a mid 2010 mac as a late 2008.. If you have Lion it's easy to see through the "about this mac" in the apple menu, under more info. (I can't say what to press exactly, my operating system is in Danish). The glass panel on the site you refer to says it fits all 15" mbp. It is not consistent with the info on ifixit. I'm lost too...

Jesper,

The 15" MacBook Pro late 2008 - early 2011 (including mid 2010) LCD and upper clam shell parts, including the glass, are interchangeable. The high resolution makes no difference. The high definition matte LCD do not get glass, the rest of the parts are the same. Verification of what I have said and the part you are looking for are available click here and click here.
